* mac80211: sync some rt2x00 patches with wireless-nextShiji Yang2023-11-13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some local patches have been sent to upstream and they are slightly different from the upstream version. So it's better to replace them to avoid conflicts with the new mac80211 backport driver. The different parts have been merged into patch 996. This commit also includes some additional fixes: * Fix watchdog function. * Improve MT7620 register initialization. * Introduce DMA busy watchdog for rt2800. P.S. Sometimes rt2800 series chips may fall into a DMA busy state. The tx queues become very slow and the client cannot connect to the AP. Usually, We can see a lot of hostapd warnings at this point: 'hostapd: IEEE 802.11: did not acknowledge authentication response' The DMA busy watchdog can help the driver automatically recover from this abnormal state. By the way, setting higer 'cell_density' and disabling 'disassoc_low_ack' can significantly reduce the probability of the DMA busy. Signed-off-by: Shiji Yang <yangshiji66@qq.com>
* mac80211: rt2x00: improve EEPROM load patchesChristian Marangi2023-10-16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Improve EEPROME load patches. Reorganize and rework them. The current patch are bugged and with the case of MTD loading, leaks and never free the EEPROM read values. Also add support for loading EEPROM using NVMEM cells. As a cleanup, change the binding to swap EEPROM read from mtd to ralink,eeprom-swap and generilize it. Signed-off-by: Christian Marangi <ansuelsmth@gmail.com>
* mac80211: rt2x00: fix MT7620 low RSSI issueShiji Yang2023-09-23
| | | | | | | | | | | Introducing SoC specific RSSI base value to fix the low RSSI issue on MT7620. With this fix[1], the RSSI value reported by MT7620 will increase by 10 dB. * mac80211: fix MT7620 Wi-Fi channel scanning functionShiji Yang2023-08-22
| | | | | | | | | | | | During the channel scanning process, the driver will continuously switch channels. It seems that the full RF calibration step in rt2800_config_channel() caused the channel scanning function to timeout. To fix it, move the RF calibration to rt2800_enable_radio() so that it is only executed once. This commit also includes some coding format adjustments to follow the Linux recommended style. Fixes: 2824fa6963cf ("mac80211: rework MT7620 PA/LNA RF calibration") Signed-off-by: Shiji Yang <yangshiji66@qq.com>
* mac80211: rework MT7620 PA/LNA RF calibrationShiji Yang2023-07-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch makes some improvements to the MT7620 RF calibration. 1. Move MT7620 PA/LNA calibration code to dedicated functions. 2. Restore RF and BBP registers before R-Calibration. 3. Do Rx DCOC calibration again before RXIQ calibration. 4. Use SoC specific AGC initial LNA value. 5. Correct MAC_RX_EN mask in rt2800_r_calibration()[1]. [1] This change may fix the "BBP/RF register access failed" error: ieee80211 phy0: rt2800_wait_bbp_rf_ready: Error - BBP/RF register access failed, aborting Signed-off-by: Shiji Yang <yangshiji66@qq.com>
* mac80211: limit MT7620 TX power based on eeprom calibrationShiji Yang2023-07-23
| | | | | | | | This patch adds basic TX power control for the MT7620 and limits its maximum TX power. This can avoid the link speed decrease caused by chip overheating. Signed-off-by: Shiji Yang <yangshiji66@qq.com>

* mac80211: rt2x00: experimental improvements for MT7620 wifiDaniel Golle2022-09-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Serge Vasilugin reports: To improve mt7620 built-in wifi performance some changes: 1. Correct BW20/BW40 switching (see comments with mark (1)) 2. Correct TX_SW_CFG1 MAC reg from v3 of vendor driver see https://gitlab.com/dm38/padavan-ng/-/blob/master/trunk/proprietary/rt_wifi/rtpci/3.0.X.X/mt76x2/chips/rt6352.c#L531 3. Set bbp66 for all chains. 4. US_CYC_CNT init based on Programming guide, default value was 33 (pci), set chipset bus clock with fallback to cpu clock/3. 5. Don't overwrite default values for mt7620. 6. Correct some typos. 7. Add support for external LNA: a) RF and BBP regs never be corrected for this mode b) eLNA is driven the same way as ePA with mt7620's pin PA but vendor driver explicitly pin PA to gpio mode (for forrect calibration?) so I'm not sure that request for pa_pin in dts-file will be enough First 5 changes (really 2) improve performance for boards w/o eLNA/ePA. Changes 7 add support for eLNA Configuration w/o eLAN/ePA and with eLNA show results tx/rx (from router point of view) for each stream: 35-40/30-35 Mbps for HT20 65-70/60-65 Mbps for HT40 Yes. Max results for 2T2R client is 140-145/135-140 with peaks 160/150, It correspond to mediatek driver results. Boards with ePA untested. * treewide: backport support for nvmem on non platform devicesAnsuel Smith2021-08-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | In the current state, nvmem cells are only detected on platform device. To quickly fix the problem, we register the affected problematic driver with the of_platform but that is more an hack than a real solution. Backport from net-next the required patch so that nvmem can work also with non-platform devices and rework our current patch. Drop the mediatek and dsa workaround and rework the ath10k patches. Rework every driver that use the of_get_mac_address api. Signed-off-by: Ansuel Smith <ansuelsmth@gmail.com>
* mac80211: remove patches stripping down crypto supportFelix Fietkau2021-06-18
| | | | | | | | Use of WPA3 and things like FILS is getting much more common, and platforms that can't affort the extra kilobytes for this code are fading away. Let's not hold back modern authentication methods any longer Signed-off-by: Felix Fietkau <nbd@nbd.name>
* mac80211: Update to backports-5.10.42Hauke Mehrtens2021-06-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | The removed patches were integrated upstream. The brcmf_driver_work workqueue was removed in brcmfmac with kernel 5.10.42, the asynchronous call was covered to a synchronous call. There is no need to wait any more. This part was removed manually from this patch: brcm/860-brcmfmac-register-wiphy-s-during-module_init.patch Signed-off-by: Hauke Mehrtens <hauke@hauke-m.de>
* mac80211: backport upstream fixes for FragAttacksFelix Fietkau2021-05-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | From the patch series description: Several security issues in the 802.11 implementations were found by Mathy Vanhoef (New York University Abu Dhabi), who has published all the details at https://papers.mathyvanhoef.com/usenix2021.pdf Specifically, the following CVEs were assigned: * CVE-2020-24586 - Fragmentation cache not cleared on reconnection * CVE-2020-24587 - Reassembling fragments encrypted under different keys * CVE-2020-24588 - Accepting non-SPP A-MSDU frames, which leads to payload being parsed as an L2 frame under an A-MSDU bit toggling attack * CVE-2020-26139 - Forwarding EAPOL from unauthenticated sender * CVE-2020-26140 - Accepting plaintext data frames in protected networks * CVE-2020-26141 - Not verifying TKIP MIC of fragmented frames * CVE-2020-26142 - Processing fragmented frames as full frames * CVE-2020-26143 - Accepting fragmented plaintext frames in protected networks * CVE-2020-26144 - Always accepting unencrypted A-MSDU frames that start with RFC1042 header with EAPOL ethertype * CVE-2020-26145 - Accepting plaintext broadcast fragments as full frames * CVE-2020-26146 - Reassembling encrypted fragments with non-consecutive packet numbers * CVE-2020-26147 - Reassembling mixed encrypted/plaintext fragments In general, the scope of these attacks is that they may allow an attacker to * inject L2 frames that they can more or less control (depending on the vulnerability and attack method) into an otherwise protected network; * exfiltrate (some) network data under certain conditions, this is specific to the fragmentation issues. A subset of these issues is known to apply to the Linux IEEE 802.11 implementation (mac80211). Where it is affected, the attached patches fix the issues, even if not all of them reference the exact CVE IDs. In addition, driver and/or firmware updates may be necessary, as well as potentially more fixes to mac80211, depending on how drivers are using it. Specifically, for Intel devices, firmware needs to be updated to the most recently released versions (which was done without any reference to the security issues) to address some of the vulnerabilities. To have a single set of patches, I'm also including patches for the ath10k and ath11k drivers here. We currently don't have information about how other drivers are, if at all, affected. * mac80211: Update to version 5.9.12-1Hauke Mehrtens2021-02-14
| | | | | | | | | | | The removed patches were applied upstream. Remove the 300-mac80211-optimize-skb-resizing.patch. This patch was not applied upstream, but it conflicts with upstream changes and needs bigger changes. It was applied with Felix to remove this patch for now. It should be reworked and then send upstream later. Signed-off-by: Hauke Mehrtens <hauke@hauke-m.de>
* mac80211: rt2x00: save survey for every channel visitedMarkov Mikhail2020-10-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | rt2800 olny gives you survey for current channel. Survey-based ACS algorithms are failing to perform their job when working with rt2800. Make rt2800 save survey for every channel visited and be able to give away that information. There is a bug registred https://dev.archive.openwrt.org/ticket/19081 and this patch solves the issue. Signed-off-by: Markov Mikhail <markov.mikhail@itmh.ru>
* rt2x00: mt7620: differentiate based on SoC's CHIP_VERDaniel Golle2020-10-09
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The vendor driver does things differently based on what it finds in the SoC's CHIP_VER register, which should tell whether this is MT7620N or MT7620A (PKG) and probably also the revision (VER) and most likely also something about the silicon implementer (ECO). Introduce codepaths just like the ones in the vendor driver to handle the different chips properly. Some of those paths are most likely dead code and left-overs from FPGA versions or early prototypes of the chip. It'd thus be great if people can post their kernel logs, at least the line telling the chip version and eco, so we know what's actually out there in the wild -- all I could find is [ 0.000000] SoC Type: Ralink MT7620A ver:2 eco:6 and [ 0.000000] SoC Type: Ralink MT7620N ver:2 eco:6 which would make things easier, as then we really just need to know whether it's MT7620N or MT7620A and not care about FPGA or prototypes with ver <= 1 and eco <= 2. * mac80211: Update to version 5.8-rc2-1Hauke Mehrtens2020-07-23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The following patches: * 972-ath10k_fix-crash-due-to-wrong-handling-of-peer_bw_rxnss_override-parameter.patch * 973-ath10k_fix-band_center_freq-handling-for-VHT160-in-recent-firmwares.patch are replaced by this commit in the upstream kernel: * 3db24065c2c8 ("ath10k: enable VHT160 and VHT80+80 modes") The following patches were applied upstream: * 001-rt2800-enable-MFP-support-unconditionally.patch * 090-wireless-Use-linux-stddef.h-instead-of-stddef.h.patch The rtw88 driver is now split into multiple kernel modules, just put it all into one OpenWrt kernel package. rtl8812au-ct was patched to compile against the mac80211 from kernel 5.8, but not runtime tested. Add a patch which fixes ath10k on IPQ40XX, this patch was send upstream and fixes a crash when loading ath10k on this SoC. * mac80211: rt2x00: define RF5592 in init_eeprom routineDaniel Golle2020-07-10
| | | | | | | | | | | Make sure RF5592 is set for RT5592 chip which apparently sometimes doesn't have RF defined (but always comes with RF5592). This patch was originally submitted on linux-wireless by Tom Psyborg <pozega.tomislav@gmail.com> but got rejected. Turns out the patch is actually needed. * mac80211: rt2x00: prune more unnecessary exportsDaniel Golle2020-04-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | The calibration patches for MT7620 unnecessarily export symbols and populate never accessed function pointers. Remove all that and make functions static as the only place where each of those functions is called is within rt2800lib.c. Also make code more readable by fixing indentation, removing unnecessary parantheses and simplifying some instructions using shorthands here and there. Hence remove errornous line 5281 to make the driver actually execute the correct initialization routine for MT7620 chips. As it was requested by Stanislaw Gruszka remove setting values of MIMO_PS_CFG and TX_PIN_CFG. MIMO_PS_CFG is responsible for MIMO power-safe mode (which is disabled), hence we can drop setting it. TX_PIN_CFG is set correctly in other functions, and as setting this value breaks some devices, rather don't set it here during init, but only modify it later on. * mac80211: rt2x00: revert commit causing regression in 5GHz bandDaniel Golle2019-08-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | From: Stanislaw Gruszka <sgruszka@redhat.com> This reverts commit 9ad3b55654455258a9463384edb40077439d879f. As reported by Sergey: "I got some problem after upgrade kernel to 5.2 version (debian testing linux-image-5.2.0-2-amd64). 5Ghz client stopped to see AP. Some tests with 1metre distance between client-AP: 2.4Ghz -22dBm, for 5Ghz - 53dBm !, for longer distance (8m + walls) 2.4 - 61dBm, 5Ghz not visible." It was identified that rx signal level degradation was caused by 9ad3b5565445 ("rt2800: enable TX_PIN_CFG_LNA_PE_ bits per band"). So revert this commit.
